While you are Pregnant

Pregnancy is an exciting time and often a time when couples and families enjoy preparing for their new babies.

Many antenatal courses include a little on breastfeeding but if you would like an opportunity to really understand the details, my session on Preparing for Breastfeeding is perfect for you.

I will explain how your body makes milk, the effects of birth and how you can overcome that if needs be. I will explain the normal behaviors of a newborn and how your colostrum is perfect for them. I will teach you how to hand express your colostrum, how to store it, and when to use it.

I will show you many positions for breastfeeding in, allow you to practice too. Explain how you know what a successful feed looks like, and I’ll share my hints and tips, red flags to watch out for and I’ll be at the end of a phone should you need help while still in hospital. By having a session while you are still pregnant you can be sure to know what your challenges may be and how to seek support early for them.

Having an opportunity to really prepare in a safe space will empower you to feel confident about your breastfeeding journey ahead.

Preparing for Breastfeeding (session lasting around 90 minutes) £105 (£95 virtual)

A visit to your home (ideally after 36 weeks) to discuss your hopes and aims for breastfeeding. I will explain how breastfeeding works; what to expect in the early days; how to position yourself and the baby for successful feeding; and teach hand expression so you are equipped with the skills to ensure you can always feed your baby your milk. There will of course be an opportunity to discuss any concerns you have.
